Task 2A: Key Artwork

For this task, we were expected to design a key artwork specifically for our choice of event. The options for the event are as follow:

1. Russian Constructivism

2. Bauhaus

3. Punk Influence on Graphic Design

4. Sophie Taeuber: Living Abstraction

5. Sama-sama RIUH

6. Urbanscapes

I chose the 'Sophie Taeuber-Arp: Living Abstraction' event because I think it is interesting. I went to the artist website and searched her artworks, then, I decided to use this artwork below to do my work.

I made my first key artwork like this: and Mr Vinod said my work looks like a poster not a key artwork. It has too many useless elements.

So I made another one using this artwork below as a reference:

This is a new key artwork I made:

After Mr Vinod's feedback, I fixed the abrupt edges and the littery lines.

Then, Mr Vinod said overall looks good, but I need to change the font size and thickness, also the white lines thickness, otherwise they would be hard to see if I reduce the key artwork, the texts would be not visible and the thin lines would disappear.

Feedback
Week 6: I shown my key artwork to my teamates,they said my work is more like a poster not a key artwork, it has too many useless elements.

Week 7: I redo my key artwork and shown to Mr Vinod, he said overall looks good, but I need to change the font size and thickness, also the white lines thickness, otherwise they would be hard to see if I reduce the key artwork, the texts would be not visible and the thin lines would disappear.Also, Mr Vinod said I can't change the key artwork too much when I make thee poster.

Week8: No feedback due to Independent Learning Week.

Week9: Mr Vinod said my poster, Bag and T-shirt mockups don't have problems and all looks well. He said I can now make the Gif animation in weekend and get start with the final project.

Reflections
Experience

I think this subject is way difficult than the Typography in the first semester. In this Task 2A & 2B, I learnt what exactly key artwork means and then make it into poster, and then make it into Gif and mockups base on that poster I made.It's fun but difficult. I enjoy this class and I want to improve more on my work.

Observation

At the first time I touch on Advanced Typography, I knew this is not a easy class for me, to be honest, I'm not really good at design a type. However, I still need to get the credits from this class and improve more on my work.

Findings

Because I'm not good at Typography, so I normally would get some difficultys that other classmates won't get and I need to figure out by myself. Such as: key artwork has too many useless elements etc. Advanced Typography is way difficult than the normal Typography in the first semester. But I'm still happy to learn it.
