INSTRUCTIONS
Research Topic (Week 1)
On the first week, we were told to think about our field of interest and choose one topic. I talked to Ms Hayati about my interest which is about Chinese monsters.
Feedback: Decide whether to make a character for a game or character in a movie. Introduce to specialty group teachers who would guide us to choose the
specialization.
Research Problem and Problem Statement (Week 2)
This week I need to write a problem statement based on Chinese monster designs that are not well known by foreigners. Think about the research problems and objectives for week 3. Have idea for research was: How Chinese monsters affect people’s lives.
Feedback: The progression sheet needs to be more specific. To write a rationale, I should first write a background on what all research has been done on your study topic. Follow this with what is missing or what are the open questions.
Research Question and Objective (Week 3)
This week I need to write research problems, write research objectives rework the rationale and problem statement. Rethink the topic I want to do. Search for more articles based on Chinese monster culture

Feedback: Ms Hayati let me watch the recorded session again and find reference and citation in Google. Need to change the problem statement. Need to find academic articles with the same topic and find a problem in it. Then need to make a report based on that problem.

Experience:
This class was a subject that gave us full knowledges about design research, . I 've learned so many things from Ms Hayati, such as what is Quantitative and Qualitative Research, what I want to design in the future and write them down. Because of the corona virus, I still cannot come to Malaysia and learn the lesson face to face with the lecturer, so It is new for me to learn things through the online learning system. I can feel it, the online class is way different with the face to face learning, I love Ms Hayati's class, I learnt many things.
Observations:
This class is a important class. It tells us that before we start to design, there are things need to think first, such as the topic, what you want to design, what'sthe purpose of it and etc. I think it is a very useful part before start design a new product.
Findings:
I've found out that Design Research Methodology wasn't as very interesting learning as other subjects in this semester, maybe because it has too much paperworks and paperworks are a bit boring. However, these paperworks are useful for the following semester. The lecturer in this class gives me feedbacks that I can improve my works to make them better. I've learn a lot in this class.
